It wasn’t until 2 years ago that I tried dim sum for the very first time. My husband and I were in Australia, on holidays, when we stumbled across a vegan restaurant that serve gluten-free dim sum! I was blown away! You see, being gluten-intolerant, finding dim sum that doesn’t contain wheat is nearly impossible. Recently I decided to search out a dim sum place, here in our City of Toronto, to see if there were any options. That was when I came across Riz! Not only did the menu include gluten-free dim sum, but they had a full separate menu for people like myself. While it’s not a vegan restaurant, the options were vast. I had to go. So, last week, I gathered a bunch of our friends and headed over to Riz to see for ourselves. As soon as we walked in, we were all greeted by a lovely girl who ushered us to our massive booth. The ambience and environment was perfect. After being seated, we were asked if we wanted the “All you can taste” option or a la carte. Being that we all wanted to try as much as possible, we decided on the “All you can taste” option. What did I order? Basically, one of everything. I can tell you in all sincerity that there was not one thing that I or anyone of us ate that we didn’t enjoy. Thoroughly impressed. The owner of Riz visited our table a few times and mentioned that they are one of the only restaurants in Toronto that even offer vegan tempura in some of their items. They also have vegan mayo that was added in one the dishes and of course, gluten-free soya sauce. At last, I don’t have to bring mine from home. Riz also offers “All you can taste” during their lunch hours which is when I plan to go next. In fact, we already have made plans to return in the very near future. That says a lot. There are two locations to choose from. The one I visited was Riz North on Yonge Street while the other location is on Bayview. Check out their website for more details.
You will not regret going.
