There’s a new kid on the block and they’re here for the long haul. Recently opened 8 weeks ago, Veghed already has a huge following. And for good reason. The food is great! We’re talking unique spices, sprouts, soups, teas, salads and juices. Everything made there and super fresh. Veghed is a small Dundas Street takeout/restaurant that caters to vegans, but isn’t 100% vegan as cheese is used if one is vegetarian. However, all the soups and pretty much everything on the menu can be made vegan and gluten free. As soon as I walked in, I was offered turmeric and apple tea (with some other things in it) to try, and it was like something I had never had before… in a very unique way! It was perfect considering the frigid cold weather that night. I was picking up some food to takeout, and ended up with the “Heirloom Carrot Coconut Lemongrass Curry (thai style) Soup”, “Four Wild Mushroom Soup” with brown rice and the “20 Piece Salad” topped with things like sprouts and dehydrated spices. Veghed stands out from some of the other vegan options in our city for it’s use of exotic spices and herbs that aren’t easy to come across. Highly recommended.
